Intel cuts its prices across the board in Q3

@ 2007/03/16
They start off with the Quad cores, but also Dual cores and Xeons get their prices cut :
"Intel has scrapped plans for the quad-core 2.13 GHz Core 2 Quad Q6400, but instead added plans for a quad-core 2.66 GHz Q6700. However, Intel's guidance will cut the price of the Q6600 and the Q6700 dramatically -- Intel will cut the price of the Q6600 to a more discounted price than the Q6400 was ever expected to launch at.

June/July is going to be K10. Barcelona for the server, Agena for the desktop, and Kuma for the dual-core varient. Not sure if all three are launching at once or spaced out a little, but Barcelona starts the ball rolling by then.

I've already read in two places up to 40% higher interger performance going from Kentsfield to Agena. Granted one source was AMD themselves, but they usually aren't the type to make those numbers up from what I know.

since most enthousiasts have dual core already , i only see moving to quad cores interesting. From x2 to conroe isnt interesting from my pov

the 8 multi is only 1 short of the current 6600 and 4300 Multiplier

I think Intel indeed wants to kill or at least cripple AMD.

Yup, unbeatable with the knowledge we have today... only downside is the multiplier of "only" 8.

I didn't need a new cpu but come Q4 maybe I'll get rid of my by then granny-FX-53, an overclocked quad core at 3+ghz is nothing to sneeze at
