Want Crossfire action with high end? Get ready for ~600W power draw ONLY for VGA!

"The second card is Dragonshead 2 with the same clock as the R600XTX 12.4 inch card. The only difference is that this card ends up being 9.5 inches long and needs 240W power. It still has 1024MB memory and 512Mbit memory controller. It comes with two 2x3 pins power connectors that we already saw at Geforce 8800 GTX.

you're CF ready

if you want more than 2 CF cards, you need to contact AMD to see if your PSU will do the job..

OEM doesn't really concern us, that's true, but my guess is the OEM cards will be the first that get around the enthusiast sites

600W VGA only is a lot, and that's an understatement. Compare it to 8800GTX SLi + Quad + power hungry 680i : still didn't go above 500W while benching Guess the 1kW psu's will sell well in the future

n/o, but OEM don't matter to us Geforce 7900GX2 was longer than R600 OEM...

what worries is is the 600W VGA ONLY power requirement for Crossfire, that's just crazy. no?

Looking forward to these, but in case you haven't seen it, look at the R600XTX OEM card (a whopping 3.8" longer than an 8800GTX)...
