IBM invents cooling technique based on trees

According to tmcnet, the hierarchical branching found in tree roots, tree branches, and human veins inspired the boffins to come up with the technique in the same way that an apple crashing inspired Isaac Newton to come up with gravity.

Basically the idea involves a chip cap with a specially designed network of channels on its surface. This means that when you stick the viscous paste between the chip and its cooler it is better distributed and can be thinner.
