@ 2006/09/18
A few months ago Seagate made headlines when they introduced their 750GB hard drive, the Barracuda 7200.10. With the recent advances in drive capacity everyone is looking for the biggest and best drive, especially high demand users who need tremendous capacity for applications like video editing, web servers, and file storage. The Barracuda 7200.10 is a desktop drive but Seagate recently brought out the enterprise version, the Barracuda ES. In this article we will be looking at this drive in the 750GB version. While the Barracuda ES is very much like the 7200.10, it packs in a few extra features most of which will appeal to enterprise and SOHO users as well as prosumers. These drives are designed to bring the highest capacity, lowest failure rate, and the best RAID/JBOD performance to the 3.5" SATA market.
