Official NVIDIA 7900 GS Benchmarks

@ 2006/09/06
The 7900 GT shows at most a 15% performance improvement over the 7900 GS. The largest performance improvement is under Oblivion at a relatively low resolution. The largest difference seem to appear at 1024x768. As we draw nearer to being pixel and fill rate bound, we see less of a performance difference. Interestingly, Half-Life 2 shows zero performance difference between the GS and GT at high resolutions. These cards are by no means CPU bound under such conditions, so it's our opinion that the GT shows a geometry advantage at low resolutions that dissipates as the burden on pixel processing speed increases. This seems likely because geometry remains a constant factor while we are changing the burden on memory, pixel shaders, z and raster units with resolution.

Received mine last week; only paid $150 OEM whitebox. No time to open the box yet

much like the 6800GS vs 6800GT, in some games the new 7900GS is slightly faster/on par with the GT, in other games it's slower.
