OCZ Platinum PC2-6400 2x1024 MB kit

Since my last Platinum review, OCZ has released new heat spreaders. These new heat spreaders are perforated with the goal of increasing the surface area of the heat sink and increasing air flow around the chips. Besides the technical improvement, I think they look much snazzier than their more classic heat spreaders. For those of you coming from DDR1, the memory timings may look incredibly slow, but the most common timings for DDR2 is 5-5-5-15, which puts this memory at the upper end of current DDR2 technology. Checking out the SPD settings means you will be wise to manually set the timings in the BIOS as they actually default to looser timings.

mmm, slow timings, but it seems the gain in frequency compensates pretty well for it.

I still have my doubts concerning the efficiency of those heatspreaders.
