Marvell Unveils Single-Chip Bluetooth, WLAN Chipset

Marvell's miniaturization techniques allow the 88W8688 to be 50% smaller than a previous two-chip, discrete WiFi and Bluetooth solution. The 88W8688 fully supports 802.11a/b/g and Bluetooth 2.0+EDR. The chip is also firmware upgradeable to Bluetooth 2.1. The 88W8688 is also capable of running Bluetooth profiles on chip which frees the host processor from taking on extra CPU cycles.
