In terms of price and performance, it's really hard to beat the Arctic Cooling Freezer. It's relatively easy to install, keeps your CPU the coolest of the bunch and will also be nice and quiet. Special mentions to Alphacool Passiv, which is just a totally mental design, and the Akasa AK-960 which almost manages to pip the Freezer to the post. Either of those heatsinks will keep your Conroe nice and chilly, and not at an outrageous price.

yes and no; lowering the CPU heat output would level the playing field more, making the differences between designs stand out less; so the test with a higher wattage Pentium 4/D CPU is still valid

Intel will start ramping up the speed of the Core 2 and those top end models will surely match the older P4 numbers; and that's leaving out overclocking, where an increased voltage settings really turns up the heat!

yes, but the problem most people have now is how much you really need for conroe which has a much lower heat output

Do you agree (generally) with the result?
It was interesting to see the Freezer Pro is one of the few noted as coming with a 4pin fan.
OFF TOPIC: Asked Nexus about them making 4pin quiet 120mm fans and they are 'thinking about it'
