@ 2006/07/31Current LCD technology will progressively disappear and be replaced first by monitors with CCFL tube backlighting and extended gammut, then with LED backlighting and finally OLEDs. Unfortunately, these three types of technology have been delayed. The release date is now at best October for the first two and we don´t have a date for OLED.
These delays are not only due to technological complications. Manufacturers’ priorities have changed. Recently, LCD monitors lost the privilege of being the first to benefit from technological improvements. Except for one manufacturer, TVs and notebooks are now favored. We put together a collection of monitors from the manufacturers in question to have a glimpse of what the next generation will be (soon we hope).
