More AMD and Intel Price Wars coming...

Yes, demand will increase due to lower CPU prices, and Intel will probably not add fuel to the fire by making even more old processors, so things may not get bloodier than they'll be in a couple months.

But we're closer to a real price war than we've been in a long, long time.

Price war normally produces two losers; price erosion hurts; higher sales $ and lower overall margin means less investors. Intel may be able to sustain longer with more cash than AMD. The minority PC enthusiasts may benefit for a short time; a lower price OEM PC by about $100-$150 from Dell, HP and eMachine will increase sales momentarily. I'd say after Intel depletes 90nm finished goods inventory, pricing will be back to "normal".

Should demand increase due to pricing in July; it only takes away future sales; say the "before school starts" and 4th quarter buying season.
