NVIDIA Geforce 7950GX2 tested in QuadSLI config

@ 2006/06/07
While the general characteristics of the card are similar, 7950GX2 is not meant to be a part of a QuadSLI system. It will be offered on the retail market as a single card, and at least for now QuadSLI won’t be supported in the drivers. This official NVIDIA statement was put to the test later in this review. In its press material NVIDIA announced this card as the fastest single card on the market, which will easily outperform the main ATI competitor, X1900XTX. The news is that this card will be able to work in a non SLI motherboard, thanks to its built-in PCI-Express switch chip. The chip has two x16 connections to the GPUs, and one x16 connection to the motherboard that is shared between the GPUs. This way the motherboard is only required to have one PCI-E x16 connector, which will make it possible to use this card on all chipsets, whether they are NVIDIA’s, Intel’s or even ATI’s.
