well, a lot of pc-illiterate people have seen a mobo-manufacturer's logo or something somewhere. (they might pronounce some names in really funny ways though )

I don't think any of my non-PC friends or family know any of those motherboard brands that you listed.

I had a friend tell me that he had "Intel inside".

some of my friends only now if they have a ati of geforce videocard, or p4 or AMD. The rest of the specs are quickly forgotten
