Budget Dual-Core Goodness - Pentium D 805

@ 2006/04/18
The D 805 is a low cost (currently as low as $130 CAD), lower performance version of the 820/830/840 family of dual core processors. Unlike its more expensive brothers, it is meant to be used with a 533MHz FSB, and runs at a 20x multiplier to give a 2.66GHz clock speed.

David Wong of A.G. Edwards wrote that first-quarter inventory could rise by "several hundred million dollars" and possibly by that much again in the current period. Inventory stood at $3.1 billion at the end of 2005. That would require Intel to write down the value of excess chips by taking a charge against profit, either in the March or June quarter, Wong wrote.

Wow, this chip is getting a lot of positive overclocking press lately. I wonder when Intel will increase the price/discontinue it
