GeForce 7900 cards scarce but not rare

So why aren't 7900 GT cards more readily available at online vendors? Desai had several answers, one with an intriguing inherent tension in it: he said NVIDIA had no control over whether board partners chose to prioritize one sales channel over another in shipping cards to their customers—but he accepted NVIDIA's responsibility for the overarching issue, regardless.

7800GT stock heatsink ain't bad; 7900GT produces less heat; same heatsink, even beter cooled; it's silent at 25% fan speed, with temperature not okay for overclocking, but way okay for stable usage

yes, but NV completly screwed up with the stock heatsink

a large alu sink with a big fan, no heatpipes and it would have been all groovy but nooo, they did have to install that 10 cent POS they have now and people hate it

the 7900 is easier to cool and keep quiet though.. ~50W less

price wise it's

X1800XT 256Mb
NV7900GT 256Mb
X1800XT 512Mb

each time about $/€20-30 difference

well, the 7900GT selling like stupid is a plausble explanation

NV set the price to low and missed out a chance for great profits.

Why the people are buying it over the x1800XT at those prices, might blame ATIS marketing for that.
