Cloud engineer jailed for wiping code repositories

Cloud engineer Miklos Daniel Brody has been jailed for two years and ordered to pay $529,000 for wiping the code repositories of his former employer.

According to the U.S. Department of Justice, Brody was fired on 11 March 2020, from First Republic Bank in San Francisco. after he connected a USB drive containing p*rn to company computers.

After he was fired, Brody refused to return his work laptop and instead used his still-valid account to access the bank's computer network and caused damages estimated to be above $220,000.
