1/10th Taiwan exports to EU not RoHS-complaint
@ 2006/04/02Although the European Union’s (EU’s) Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) legislation will become effective on July 1, the Industrial Development Bureau of Taiwan’s Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) stated that there are still 164 Taiwanese companies that have not yet obtained certification for their products yet, according to a Chinese-language Economic Daily News (EDN) report.
Officials from the bureau indicated that the production value of those companies that are unlikely to gain certification by July will account for 10%, or NT$20 billion.(US$616 million), of overall exports to the EU, the paper stated.
