Biggest. Microsoft. Stuff-up. Ever?

Which means Microsoft isn't going to be able to do any pre-launch marketing or else it's hardware partners will tear them to shreds. All this at a time, when Microsoft is under more competitive pressure than it's ever been before. If ever PC makers needed a reason to offer alternative operating systems to Windows, this will be it! Christmas-time Linux PCs? Guaranteed. And stand by for Apple to crank up the marketing like never before. This is an opportunity they simply will be salivating over.

So, for Microsoft to have delayed this one, there has to be major issues. All of which re-affirms everything I've learnt in dealing with David for the last ten years. Take everything he says with a grain of salt, but do listen, because more often than not somewhere in amongst the barrage, there's nuggets of truth and sometimes they're gold.

market leaders that get fat and lazy
MS has never been innovative from the very beginning; they are smart in buying good companies and leveraging the products they purchased. Employees have been receiving top dollars and making a good living for a long time; fat & lazy.

Bottom line, how many people will go for the new high priced OS. Besides, PC growth is not even going to be in the U.S. and EU.

http://www.ubuntu.com/download

Been using it since 6 months or so on daily basis.
Excellent for newbs (if you install codecs and mount HD's for them ... 30 sec work).
For more experienced users: after cursing at it for a month or two (i have to look up EVERYTHING if i want to change something ... and i'm accustomed to windows since 3.11), i'm getting more and more fond of it on the home pc.
Right now doing tests for new server: apache, php, mysql, tomcat, ant, ... fun fun fun

I don't think they'll rewrite from scratch... but review in detail a lot of code. here's more reading material: http://www.overclockers.com/tips00939

I got the theory that MS could have hired the lead engineer of OS X which has just quit Apple. Thus they delay the product to rewrite it.
