Samsung starts mass production of 12nm-class DDR5 DRAM

According to Samsung, the new 12nm-class DDR5 DRAM will reduce power consumption by up to 23 percent while also enhancing wafer productivity by up to 20 percent. The new chips have a maximum speed of 7.2Gbps, which, according to Samsung, is enough to process two 30GB UHD movies in about a second. The new Samsung 12nm-class DDR5 DRAM lineup will support different applications including data centers, artificial intelligence, and next-generation computing.
