Build a Quiet Gaming System

@ 2006/03/16
Killer gaming rigs are one thing, but we're getting a little weary of the noise a lot of these high-end systems make. So we set out to build a high-performance, but quiet, gaming system. Before we dive into particulars, let's take a look at the goals we set out here

installing another cooler on video card: enthusiast

the other points: you are correct; if they can install zalman 7700, they can install ninja too, it's at least as easy.

maybe we should do our own "silent gaming system guide"

I don't accept that. I accept it when I get mainstream advice on a forum but not on a review site.

not quite "noobs"; rather "mainstream", and not really enthusiasts

GPU needs a Accellero
CPU needs a Ninia with high end silent fan
Samsung Spinpoint
Case needs get better fans

it isn't that hard, they are complete noobs

Case: Sonata II
PSU: Seasonic S12
Mobo: Passive NB cooled
CPU: FX-57 (why o why?)
Cooler: Zalman CNPS7700ALCU (Quiet?)
GPU: 7900GTX with stock cooling (Quiet???)
HDD: Western Digital (they are not the quietest around...)

some unwise choices in there imho for a silent gaming system. way too expensive CPU and GPU.
