Firaxis and 2K Games have confirmed that a new Civilization game is now under development.
The news comes on the heels of the announcement that Heather Hazen, former COO, has become the new head of the studio.
Unfortunately, there are no further details and it is not clear if this is a spin-off or a sequel, but considering that Civilization VI is about six years old, the best bet is that we'll see a new game. The studio has also confirmed that Civilization VI lead designer, Ed Beach, will oversee the development of the new title.
"I’m thrilled to have this opportunity to carry on the studio’s storied legacy, beginning with the announcement that Firaxis is in development on the next iteration of the legendary Civilization franchise", said Hazen.
Civilization VI has been around for quite some time and by some numbers, it has sold more than 65 million copies to date.
