China's Lenovo ended 2005 by becoming the world's third-largest PC maker, moving up four positions in the global rankings, according to a preliminary estimate by iSuppli Corp. Matthew Wilkins, senior analyst with iSuppli, commented that Lenovo reaped the benefits of strong market conditions in 2005, in addition to its acquisition of IBM's PC division. Lenovo of China increased its PC shipments to 13.9 million units in 2005, up 222.9% from 4.3 million in 2004, indicated Wilkins. The company finished the year with a market share of 6.4%, Wilkins added.

What we don't know is how many Lenovo units sold in China (for domestic consumption) that both Dell and HP couldn't quite able to get into the market.
