Gates vs. Jobs: who is the good guy?

@ 2006/01/27
If you had to pick the lesser of two evils, which one would you choose: Bill Gates or Steve Jobs? From looking at my fellow Arsians' opinions, I would wager a guess that most would pick Gates as the worse alternative. Seems logical, right? Gates = Microsoft, Windows, security problems, bad haircut. Jobs = Apple, iPod, sleek hardware, black turtleneck. But what about a different approach to answering that question? Using altruistic impact as the measuring stick, it looks like Gates is more interested in changing the world for the better. In contrast, Jobs seems to be all about the Benjamins.

The article misses out the economic damage done by Microsofts programs and behaviour and the companies Microsoft has destroyed on purpose, not with a better product but with a better business tactic.

On the side of apple, itunes and the ipod are very proprietary, which is very similar to microsoft.

Creating new jobs is a very admirable skill as well that hasn't been looked at either.

Gates wants Jobs' job.

Jobs does a fantasic job in making Apple shareholders rich = Benjamins

Gates keeps on buying back MS stock = I shall return = MacAuthur (says in WWII)
