AMD, Intel throw dust cloud in buyers' faces

IF YOU'RE IN the market for a new PC, you will find that despite the best efforts of Intel and AMD to obfuscate the matter with weird numbers, plus signs and letters of the alphabet, retailers and dealers still understand what you want to buy.

That would be why whether you want to buy a notebook, a desktop PC or a server, the shops and the resellers will still helpfully provide you with a megahertz number, thank the lord. They realise that the "end user" - that's you and me folk - need some kind of benchmark to rely on. Bangs for Bucks (TM) would be great, but if you think the CPU vendors are going to give you that, well dream on.
