nVidia 7800GT Review Parade

It's 7800GT time! We take reference boards from XFX and BFG and put them through a series of real-world game tests. Both these companies clock their boards a little higher than the Nvidia reference - how do they fare?

"Last month NVIDIA released the first of their new 7-series line of video cards, dubbed the 7800 GTX. The GTX moniker is a new one, and until today it hasn’t been clear what its position was – a 6800 GT replacement, or a 6800 Ultra replacement. Today NVIDIA is launching the 7800 GT, the successor to the 6800 GT. That makes the positioning of the 7800 GTX a little more clear, and although it might seem that the 7800 GTX is the new 6800 Ultra, we believe that NVIDIA has plans to release a 7800 Ultra when ATI’s R520 gets closer to hitting the market. We were able to get our hands on an XFX GeForce 7800 GT, and although we are not yet able to do a full review on this card due to time constraints, we have managed to test the card enough to get a good indication of its performance."

As expected NVIDIA introduced the GeForce 7800 GT today, a slightly watered down version of the GeForce 7800 GTX. We put it up against the capable GeForce 6800GT and 6800 Ultra as well as the 7800 GTX, both as a single card and in SLI, here's how it performed.

I think the price difference to the GTX and the question wheter the pipes are unlockable and how it overclock will be really important.
