Windows Vista Beta 1 released

@ 2005/07/27
Earlier today (9:05am PST to be specific) Microsoft announced the release of the first beta of Windows Vista, five days ahead of schedule! Since I tend to lean towards the fanboi side, I will keep my excitement about this release in check and report just the facts. Many of you are probably asking why I would be excited about this release, since it has been panned as being Windows XP with a different skin. Fortunately for us, that is just not true.

It estimates that a more effective sleep mode will save $35 to $40 a year in energy costs per installed PC.
It fails to say "Using A64 over Intel 90nm processors, additional saving will be 4X."
