@ 2005/07/12INVESTIGATORS from the European Commission raided several premises belonging to Intel.
The raids are part of an investigation the EU is conducting into alleged antitrust breaches by the chip giant.
Officials also visited the officers of other computer companies, although no details of which firms they visited are yet available.
An Intel spokesman said: "EC officials conducted a search of two Intel offices in EMEA, Intel Swindon and Munich, on July 12 as part of an investigation. Intel's normal practice is to attempt to cooperate with authorities from regulatory agencies and we are doing so in this case. Intel believes its business practices are both fair and lawful. Beyond that we can't comment any further."
The antitrust investigation was initiated by Intel's X86 competitor, AMD.
