HTC to exit entry-level smartphone market in 2017

Will focus on "high-margin" devices, not just high-end market

During its fourth quarter earnings call, HTC announced that it plans to exit the entry-level smartphone business this year as it begins to focus on high-margin, high-profit devices.

Although the company posted a swelling net loss in its fourth quarter earnings report, the transition of resources does not necessarily mean that it will only manufacture flagship or premium devices from now on.
