External Hard Disk Drive from Maxtor: 100GB OneTouch II

@ 2005/06/16
We reviewed a solution belonging to the second generation of the Maxtor OneTouch HDD family: the 100GB model supporting USB 2.0 interface. If you are looking for a good and reliable external solution you might want to take a look at this one.

Nah, too immobile for my taste.

Do you think I got 250GB+ MP3 collection by telling people to come over to my house to upload their data?

Can you (at least theoretically) achieve RAID 1 with say external SATA disks?

Today size of HDD = status of PC guru

More Guru = more large size HDD sales

Stripping down all my 30 years of work into text format = > 10Mb of data.

How about a couple of HDD crashes will make most people rethink their collection of "data"

Dropping a HDD? I wouldn't know how. I worked as a waiter for some years...
Comment from jmke @ 2005/06/16
yes dropping a HDD during a move will be less dramatic then dropping a DVD.. no wait.

j/k btw!!
Comment from Faiakes @ 2005/06/16
I know but I can't be bothered to hold my data in 2 formats. Plus i will be moving soon so it is easier to just have an HDD with everything inside.
Comment from jmke @ 2005/06/16
you don't need a HDD for static information like ISO's, MP3 and archive of files; DVD's will do fine for that
Comment from Faiakes @ 2005/06/16
Actually the Mp3 is more than 250GB

... but as you tell by me signature I mod games and I have a large library of mods from which to draw inspiration

... plus I keep a constantly updated library of all the programs i use or can use when I need them

... plus a few ISO images of my Application CDs, because some friends never return things you lent them....

MP3 != VITAL data imho
Comment from Faiakes @ 2005/06/16
My data currently exceeds 400GB (250 GB of which is MP3, hardly any videos).
Comment from jmke @ 2005/06/16
how much actual DATA do you have then? I can save everything VITAL that I have on 2x 4.7Gb DVDs, one for the [M] site, the other for my personal documents

100GB? uke:

That's for storing my little sister's fairy tales. :grum:

If it ain't 250GB, no one should even bother:grum:
