Synology released new hardware, applications and network services

@ 2016/10/26
On 18th of October 2016, the annual Synology global launch event took place in Utrecht along with 15 other countries, with over 5000 users worldwide estimated to attend. The new Synology movement aims to redefine the whole NAS term from Network Attached Storage to Networking, Application and Storage.

During the event, Synology has launched its brand new all-flash storage, FlashStation FS3017 unit, which can deliveer 200.000 IOPS in 4K random writing at a total cost of 0.8 USD per GB. For meeting business’ needs for interrupted operations, Synology also promised to offer the Synology Proactive Care service, which aims to proactively detect and analyze a server’s status in order to contact users before a potential issue actually occurs and tackle it beforehand.

At the same time, Synology also launched its own cloud service, Synology Cloud2 (C2), so that users can back up data and set up a disaster recovery destination without the need of changing the existing infrastructure.

This service is taking data and service security to a new level, while maintaining a low cost.

In a fully-digital and globalized world where Internet access can be obtained almost anywhere, SMB users feel the need to collaborate more and more via the cloud, but also initiate long-distance file transfers. The new Synology private cloud collaboration suite which does also include a high-speed Internet data transfer protocol is called Synology Presto; this suite does include cloud spreadsheet and document applications (Synology Office), a communication application (Synology Chat), one Calendar, but also an e-mail solution (MailPlus).

Synology Presto makes use of the exclusive SITA (Synology Internet Transfer Accelerator) technology for dramatically increasing the file transfer speeds across countries or even continents, which will benefit Benelux business plenty when it is needed to rely on frequent exchange of large files with overseas clients.

If you remember well, Synology launched its first router back in 2015, the RT1900ac with a really easy to use interface; this year the company will launch the RT2600ac router, with more powerful hardware specifications and the latest MU-MIMO technology. This product was meant to satisfy the needs of home but also small and medium businesses.

With the Synology routers we will also benefit of the VPN Plus application designed for the mobile workforce offering a clientless WebVPN service as well as a fast, highly-secure, and intuitive SSL VPN service for ordinary workers.
