Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 tablet goes to Intel

Xiaomi has just launched its all metal Mi Pad 2 that is more advanced than the original MiPad.

The new tablet has all metal body and measures 200.4x132.6x6.95 mm and weighs 322 grams. It has a 7.9 inch high resolution display, 6190 mAh battery an 8 megapixel rear and 5 megapixel front camera. Xiaomi said that the 7.9 inch display is made by Sharp and has a 2048x1536 resolution with 326 pixel per inch screen density.

Mi Pad 2 is 18 percent thinner than the Mi Pad with 6.95 mm versus 8.5 millimeter with the previous model. It is 38 grams lighter – 322 grams versus 360 grams.

The tablet will be available in Dark gray and Champagne gold and it has either 16GB or 64GB eMMC storage. The tablet's key element is the Intel X5 X8500 is a 14nm 64-bit quad core clocked at 2.24GHz. Getting this contract is a big design win for Intel. This device might sell well especially as its design is similar to the iPad mini 4. The tablet uses dual channel 2GB LPDDR3 memory.
