Xiaomi Redmi 2A takes on Moto E

$99, quad-core SoC, 1GB RAM

Xiaomi’s recently released Redmi 2 smartphone is designed to take on the Moto G, but the new Redmi 2A variant is a $99 design that puts the Moto E to shame.

The humble Redmi 2A features the same colourful design, but somewhat cheaper components, like the 1.5GHz Leadcore L1860C SoC, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of storage, 8-megapixel camera, 2200mAh battery and a 4.7-inch 720p screen.
Aside from the somewhat less potent processor, the spec is almost on a par with the original Redmi 2, so you’re really not missing out on much. The obvious candidate for a direct comparison would be the Moto E, Huawei Honor Holly or Sony Experia E4 (just barely).
