NVIDIA’s GeForce Go 6600 Targets ATI’s MOBILITY RADEON X700

NVIDIA Corp. unveiled its latest mobile processor named GeForce Go 6600 targeting mainstream notebooks with powerful graphics subsystems based on Intel’s latest generation Centrino core-logic supporting PCI Express bus. The new mobile chip from NVIDIA aims the same market segment as ATI’s recently unveiled MOBILITY RADEON X700.

The GeForce Go 6600 graphics processing unit is a mobile version of NVIDIA GeForce 6600-series chip that has 8 pixel and 3 vertex processors as well as 128-bit memory controller supporting GDDR and GDDR3 memory. NVIDIA is expected to offer two flavours of its Go 6600 with different clock-speeds: the typical will operate at 375MHz/600MHz for core/memory, the Ultra will function at 450MHz/700MHz core/memory.
