An Economical All-Round NAS Solution for Office and Workgroups

Taipei, Taiwan—November 26, 2013—Synology® today introduced RackStation RS814, a scalable 1U 4-bay rackmount NAS server designed to be a powerful and full-featured network attached storage solution, with scalability up to 32TB with Synology RX410 .

“The RS814 is designed to meet ever-increasing business requirements while keeping its price competitive,” said Nicole Lin, Product Manager at Synology Inc. “By combining the strong performance, high reliability, scalability and rich business features, the RS814 ensures business users of an all-round storage solution at an ideal value position.”

The RS814 is designed to provide the optimal price/performance ratio. Powered by a 1.33 GHz dual-core CPU and Link Aggregation, the RS814 delivers read and write speeds of over 210MB/s and 130MB/s respectively under RAID 5 configuration in a Windows® environment. The overall performance is enhanced with the integration of built-in floating-point unit (FPU) and 1 GB DDR3 RAM, ensuring faster multimedia processing and multi-tasking. In addition, the RS814 comes with a new hardware encryption engine which outperforms the previous generation of 4-bay rackmount NAS by delivering up to 60% growth in both read and write speeds while transferring AES 256-bit encrypted files.

Designed with attention to reliability, the RS814 comes with hot-swappable drives, and dual Gigabit Ethernet ports with failover support to ensure continual service. The brand new hard drive tray lock further secures the hard drives from unauthorized or accidental withdrawal.

The RS814 runs on DiskStation Manager (DSM) 4.3, an intuitive operating system that provides a host of applications to bring better productivity at work. Synology was voted as “PCMag Business Choice Award 2013 winner” and received the highest rating in every element of the survey, including reliability, overall satisfaction, value, and likelihood to recommend.
