Judge Rules Google's Scanning of Books Was Legal

It took the courts eight years to find Google broke no laws scanning millions of books without the copyright holder's permission. The lawsuit originated in 2004 between Google and the Author's Guild, representing several authors. A class action lawsuit was launched against Google back in 2005, but in New York, U.S. Circuit Judge Denny Chin has ruled that there is no copyright infringement and that Google's book scanning qualifies as fair use.
