ATI Mobility Radeon 9800 Review

@ 2004/12/09
ATI initially launched M18, a.k.a. Mobility Radeon 9800 in late July ’04, and was touted as the answer for the “Mobile Gaming Enthusiast”. Basically the aim of Mobility Radeon 9800 is to bring the performance of last years high end desktop into the note book arena.

To date, only Dell has adopted Mobility Radeon 9800 for their Inspiron XPS (North America) or Inspiron 9100 (Europe) mobile platforms, and with the newer announcements of Mobility Radeon X800 it may be the case that these are the only implementations that will ever take up this particular configuration. However, until the X800, or NVIDIA’s NV41M based 6800 Go’s make it to retail this is the highest performance option available in a “portable” platform today. Here we’ll take a look at the performance of the Mobility Radeon 9800 and see if it can really offer a compelling high end performance.
