The Matrox DS1 is a practical way of taking the hassle out of connecting multiple things to your MacBook. It connects via Thunderbolt, and provides connectivity for audio, gigabit ethernet, USB 3.0, 2x USB 2.0 and monitors via a single-link DVI port. Leave that on your work desk, and you just need to connect one cable and you're ready to go, instead of needing to connect each individual cable each time.
