Gigabyte 790FXTA-UD5 Motherboard Review

Motherboards/AMD AM3 by leeghoofd @ 2010-03-21

Gigabyte announced their new 333 lineup end of November 2009. At the 333 Event Show, however there was no word on the AMD CPU supporting motherboards. Focus was mainly on P55 and X58 series. Getting a speedy introduction to the wonders and miracles of AMD overclocking via HWBOT Country Cup I was eager to review one of Gigabyte´s latest high end offering, the 790FXTA-UD5. The A in the name reflects it is a souped up 333 version of the previous model 790FXT-UD5.

Bios overview

Bios

As expected this Gigabyte has got a very elaborate bios, allowing any adjustment in the voltage/ram department. Loads of options too to configure drives, RAID setups etc. Pictures are from the latest beat bios F3F. Only noticeable change between this bios and the original F2 is that the ram timings have been done in 2 columns now instead to enhance the overview.

I'll let the pictures speak for themselves as the bios feels very intuitive. Nice feature too is that current voltages/speeds/timings are shown. Which makes it a tad easier to recall which setting(s) was at which value before...
