Audio/Others by petervandamned @ 2010-05-19

Arctic Cooling is known for their highly efficient and affordable CPU and VGA heat sinks, but now this cooling giant is introducing a new product on the audio segment, the in-ear ARCTIC SOUND E361 headphones. Let us turn on the music and find out if these will chill my ears.

Conclusive Thoughts

For a new comer in this sound scene, I had high hopes. My first sound test inside my house was pretty good. Missing some on the highs, bass is good. Really liked the way you can pause and move through your MP3 files, but missing volume control.

My second test outside was really a “party pooper”. Most people come outside of their house, and you most likely use these headphones outdoors, well… unfortunately I could hear wind coming in, as these ear plugs have small holes. Also the silicone covers, to fit every ear, couldn't get my ears fit perfectly. I use my iPhone also on my motorcycle, but with my helmet I couldn't use these and had to use my original iPhone ear plugs or my Blue-Tooth Helmet.

Based on the website intended for use on smart phones, MP3 , etc we can only say:

  • these headphones are only good for use indoors.

We contacted AC regarding the sound quality issues we had when using the E361-WM outdoors, they told us there will be a revision 2 which addresses this issue. So for the time being we can’t really make a final verdict.

When we take pricing into account (€35/$52) it’s clear this product has to live up to a higher quality standard, making them use-able in- and outdoors!

We hope Arctic cooling can improve this product.
