Last Friday we had a successful benchmark session with the new Phenom II X4, we managed to grab the 3rd fastest SuperPi 1M time for AMD CPUs in the world. We still had a few liters of LN2 left so we fired up the Phenom II again this weekend to see if we could push the system further…
As we had some issues with the Gskill PC8500 memory kit last time, due to the subzero temperatures, we switched to one of our favourite DDR2 kits, the Crucial Ballistix PC8500, good for 650MHz Cas5 at 2.5v on an Intel setup…. Let the numbers to the talking:
Madshrimps' Ph-II LN2 Test Setup |
CPU | AMD Phenom II X4 940 (0850BPEW, batch 0323) |
Cooling | Dragon F1 EE |
Mainboard | DFI Lanparty DK 790GX-M2RS |
Memory | 2 * 1GB Crucial Ballistix |
Other | Asus ENGTX295 Antec 1000W PSU Western Digital 320Gb SATA HDD Windows XP SP3 OCZ Freeze thermal paste |

In the last few dozen minutes of the session, we broke the world record in the AMD Pifast benchmark ánd were the first to break the 19s barrier in the history of overclocking with an AMD processor.
