The MSI N9600GT Hybrid Freezer is equipped with 1Gb DDR3 memory and features an unique cooling solution which works passively when in 2D mode, and only makes noise when running 3D applications or games. MSI overclocked the GPU and Shader for increased performance, let´s find out how it compares to a vanilla Geforce 9600 GT.

    At first glance it’s hard not to think of the cooler on the 7900GTX which is quite similar in looks to this Hybrid Freezer

    The Hybrid Freezer is a two slot cooling solution, make sure you have to room to fit it:

    A closer look reveals the temperature probe which controls the fan, at ~50% fan voltage the fan is disabled completely and doesn’t spin again until temperatures hit the predefined limit (GPU temp between 60-70°C)

    Dual DVI out and one S-video/HDTV-out provides all the necessary output options, combined with the included converters.

    If your power supply doesn’t feature a 6-pin connector you can use the included Y-cable, will come in handy for older systems.
