OCZ has released a revised version of their Vendetta CPU Cooler; this second generation features a larger 120mm fan and also Direct-Touch-Heatpipe design, maximizing performance at acceptable noise levels! Let´s find out how it stacks up to the competition as we compare this new unit to 44 previously tested CPU Coolers.

Installation

Installation on Intel S775 and AMD AM2/939 doesn’t require motherboard removal but for proper access we do advise you to take the system out of the case.

For the Intel S775 platform you need to attach two mounting brackets which give the heatsink a total of 4 push-pins to be installed just like the Intel reference unit.

The Vendetta clears the nothbridge heatsink on this particular motherboard, but with more exotic motherboard cooling solutions there might be issues so double check!

The 120mm fan is attached to the heatsink by use of your soft rubber mounts, they absorb vibration noise and provide a tight fit at the same time. This is the same method as the original Vendetta, if it isn’t broke, don’t fix it!

Size wise of course the Vendetta 2 which is made to fit a 120mm fan is noticeably larger.

Here’s the original Vendetta with 92mm fan installed in our test setup:
