I came, I saw, I(ntel) conqueredThe P4 with the Canterwood / 800FSB CPU combo blows away every competitor and this already at default settings. When we overclock the setup to 4ghz we see 5-20% increase in performance depending on the application or game.
The
Prometeia is an expensive investment, but thanks to the adjustable CPU kit you can keep on re-using it with the newer motherboards and processors. This particular Prometeia was bought back in July 2002 and has already chilled several different AMD and Intel systems. Of course extreme cooling setups are not for everyone and for those of us that do not like to thinker with insulation-goop, you can rest assure that the Intel standard air-cooling will still give you some headroom for overclocking. Not that there is any application out there that demands more then 3ghz CPU power, but it just nice too know you are not missing out on free CPU speed :)
The first Springdale (i865) motherboards are showing up on the shelves and in combination with a P4 2.4C (800FSB) this can be a budgetwise performance king. The only way to find out if this statement is true is...correct: testing. So hold on to your panties while we try to bring you an overclocking review of the Intel i865 chipsetted motherboards!
