Sparkle 8800 GT 512Mb Review - High-End at Low-Price?

Videocards/VGA Reviews by geoffrey @ 2007-11-21

One year ago NVIDIA released the Geforce 8 series and took the performance crown, today we test the latest additions to the family, the 8800 GT is priced lower than the 8800 GTS 320mb, yet sports higher clockspeeds and more video memory. A candidate for best price/performance card and worth a place in your Christmas shopping list? We find out!

With D.I.R.T., Codemasters has yet again updated their popular Rally car racing game. This time they've pushed their game past the classic point-to-point rallying by adding extreme off-road action on dirty and muddy tracks, or one could have some fun on gravel circuits. The brand new engine for the new Colin McRae game pushes even the latest video cards down to their knees; can our round-up competitors offer anything worth talking about?

We moved on from testing the demo to the full game, as the final release seems to have gotten a minor performance fix for current generation video cards. We still went through the Avelsbachring racetrack located in Germany, this time we could run the game at an acceptable 30 frames per second at 1600x1200, enjoyable!

The Colin McRae DIRT game engine seems to be very depending GPU clocks speed, the in theory faster 8800GT has no problem keeping distance between itself and the standard 8800GTS, though once we throw in XFX's Fatal1ty things get a little less easy. Not only can it keep on par in average frame rate, you also notice that they share the same minimum and maximum frame rate. In fact, look at this from the bride side, the 8800GT is as fast as the fastest super clocked 8800GTS!

Good review, but change in the last page the price link to http://www.dollarshops.eu/product_in...oducts_id/1113

Due to the session in the link it doesn't work.
