Image Quality: ISO TestTime for the most important thing about the review, how does it perform?
ISO tests (100% crop):
ISO100
1s – F2.8 - ISO100Only a minimal amount of noise is visible at ISO100.
ISO200
1/2s – F2.8 – ISO200There's not really a difference between ISO100 and ISO200.
ISO400
1/5s – F2.8 – ISO400Noise reduction artifacts are becoming more visible at ISO400 (take a good look at the surface of the northbridge and the shadow of the big capacitor)
ISO800
1/9s – F2.8 – ISO800At ISO800, the noise reduction really kicks in, there's some serious loss of detail.
ISO1600
1/18s – F2.8 - ISO1600There isn't much detail left at ISO1600, the colors are less vivid too due to noise reduction.
ISO3200
1/30s – F2.8 – ISO3200At ISO3200 it almost looks like you've made an oil painting, it's quite obvious that shooting at ISO3200 is a not an option, if you don't use RAW tough.
ISO100 (RAW)
1s – F2.8 - ISO100 – CCD-RAWThe amount of noise is very minimal in this picture. The image looks a bit soft, but this is very normal for RAW images, because no in-camera sharpening has been applied.
ISO3200 (RAW)
1/40s – F2.8 – ISO3200 – CCD-RAWAt ISO3200, there is a lot of noise, the image has a blue-ish cast, but there's still a lot of detail visible.
