Comparison

Comparison:

With computer hardware reviews, there is a tendency to compare product at the higher or lower end which is something that camera reviews don't do often. Although it may not be apple to apple comparisons at times based on price, specifications and design goal, it does provide readers an idea of where the reviewed product stands.

With the cost of a single lens of DLSR will cost more than a regular compact digital camera, the comparison below is to illustrate how well low end digital cameras could perform. However, the quickness of SLR and steady hold and lens quality could escape the not so demanding users. Since the comparison photos were not taken at the same time under the same condition, this might not present much help.

With that said, let's take a look:
Comparison in order of -

  • Canon PowerShot SD1000/IXUS 70 previously reviewed here
  • Samsung Digimax S700 previously reviewed here.
  • Canon EOS Rebel XTi

Please bear in mind that the photos taken from EOS Rebel were under cloudy sky.

Good for you more than $200 less than Nikon D40x, not much difference in overall performance.
