Sunbeamtech 3D Storm ATX Case Review

Cases & PSU/Cases by jmke @ 2007-08-07

This new case from Sunbeamtech features three 120mm fans to cool down the hardware nested inside, we stress test the enclosure with a high end VGA card as well as a mid-range one to see if their new 3D core-fan can deliver on its promise.

Size Comparo & Closer look from the outside

Size Comparison

In our past reviews we used a 2L coke bottle to give you an idea of the size of the case, but the simple pixel diagram seems to be doing a better job at that. In the overview below you can find the Revoltec Zirconium compared to other mid-sized tower cases we have already tested.

The 3D Storm from Sunbeamtech is quite a compact case, in fact, it's the smallest case we used yet for our Core 2 test setup.

Closer Look

The side panel doesn’t have any fans installed, but does have a grill cut out over the CPU area with 80mm fan holes, the lower area also has a grill for the VGA area:

A close up at the front panel reveals the power/reset button, as well as the I/O ports:

After removing two thumbscrews the side panel slides off and you’ll find a manual, HDD rails and the feet for you to install.

If we flip the case on its side we put the hard plastic feet in place, they won’t do much good for vibration reduction:
