External hard drive enclosure finds its market in the last couple of years due to the ease of installation and use when people exhaust the system hard drive capacity from their photo and music collections. Today, we take a look at two of the enclosure from Eagle Tech, the Consus T and M Series.

Installation T-Series

SATA and IDE interface; either SATA or IDE hard-drive can be used.

Remove the four screws holding the semi-clear plastic stand.

This screw here holds the hard-drive mounting tray.

Slide the casing out.

Use the IDE cable if you are installing an IDE hard-drive, for SATA use the SATA cable provided together with the power cable. Otherwise, use the 4-pin molex here for IDE Drive.

A note of caution, when "removing" the IDE cables it is better to pull out the side from the PC board first. Otherwise, the manual does a good job in illustrating the installation steps.

I was able to use a regular IDE cable (trimmed out the excess) to continue on the review, while the replacement cable was being mailed to me.

Secure the hard-drive with four screws provided.

Plug in the power cord; USB cable from the back of the enclosure to your PC USB port; if nothing else happens, you should see the blue LED light fires up.
