Test Setup

The following gear was used for this test:

  • CPU:Intel Core 2 Duo E6420
  • MB: DFI INFINITY P965-S DARK
  • DRAM:CORSAIR TWIN2X2048-10000C5DF
  • VGA:ELSA GLADIAC Geforce 8600 GTS
  • HD:Seagate 7200.7 80GB
  • POWER:Corsair HX620W Modular Power Supply
  • Cooler:ThermalTake Big Typhoon VX

    After installing the drivers from the included CD we are good to go:

    CPU overclocking

    The FSB was increased to 500Mhz without adding extra voltage to VTT/NB, the resulting CPU speed was 3508Mhz. With the DDR2 running at 1002 CL4 4-3-9 at 2.33v (manually tight settings).

  • SuperPi 32Mb finished in 14m03seconds

    System stability decreased when trying to further increase the FSB, at 505Mhz we ran into the maximum overclock without having increased the VTT/NB voltage settings.
