PreyPrey is powered by the Doom 3 graphics engine, but is graphically more enhanced than its "blood" brother. This game can tax the latest hardware in some of the more action packed scenes in the game.
On the website of Guru3D we found a very useful benchmarking tool which can also be used on the game demo. There are 2 benchmark demo's available, and in the following graphs you can find the results for both of them. The displayed framerates are averages.
Let's start with a resolution of 1280x1024 without Anisotropic Filtering or Anti-Aliasing :
Adding 4x Anti-Aliasing an 16x Anisotropic Filtering :
Upping the resolution to 1600x1200 makes for a more taxing test :
Finally, our most demanding test : 1600x1200 with AA and AF enabled :
In this test, we're having a first look at the real power of the 7900GS. The theoretical disadvantage of 20% really isn't reflected in these results. The 7900GT has an advantage of 5-7% over the 7900GS in its standard configuration. The factory overclocked XFX does really well here too, beating the 7900GT slightly in the first demo, and trailing it a little in the second.
Even at very high resolutions the GS keeps trailing the GT by just a few fps, and even winning sometimes.
Let's have a look at "Fear" next ->
