Introduction, Specifications and Up Close

Thermalright Ultra-90:
Supplied by: Bacata

Our last Thermalright CPU heatsink review action at the site was at the beginning of this year when we tested the HR-01. At Cebit a month later we learned about two new products, the Ultra-90 and Ultra-120, while the HR-01 was designed for low airflow/passive cooling, the Ultra series with its tightly packed fins craves for strong airflow to perform well. Today we take a closer look at the Ultra-90 which supports 92mm fan size.

The base design is very similar to the HR-01 and is also made from copper (nickel plated); three U shaped heat pipes transfer the heat to the aluminum fins which are tightly packed in a tall tower design. If the XP-90 was the "monkey" generation, the Ultra-90 has learned to walk straight up.
